classic rock/blues band with a broad appeal that reaches all age

Also, the lead singer/guitar player is one of Seattle Fire
Department's own, hence the name "3rd Degree Burn".The
band rocks classic tunes from Steve Miller to the Stones to Tommy Tutone and
other one-hit wonders you'll remember.
The 3rd Degree Burn band members are:
Lance
Kent: Lead Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica
An alumnus of the Northwest Boychoir as well as two award-winning jazz groups, Lance has been singing in front of audiences for almost three decades.After playing the piano, drums and violin growing up, Lance bought his first guitar in a pawn shop for 40 bucks in 1991. It didn’t take long for him to acquire “Lily,” the blue guitar he uses on stage today.
His musical influences are varied – and can be found on the tattoo on his right arm! He especially admires Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.Locally blues musicians Ron Smith (the Great Pretenders), Dave Dorning, Cory Wilds, Scott Lindenmuth, and his boys Louden and Logen, serve as inspiration.
“Women everywhere that make a guy think of all kinds of crazy stuff,” Lance says.“Mostly, my wife Linda Marie, she encouraged me to really get into the guitar, she makes it possible to attend lessons and practice, she is my No. 1 fan (well her and my mother), and she looks hot in the band T-shirts!” When he’s not immersed in music, this firefighter can be found in the sun at the beach, on the slopes in the snow, and laughing as much as possible.

“The Pierce County Kid” Nordstrom: Guitar
Tim brings a varied musical background to 3rd Degree Burn, from jazz groups in the early 1990s to Latin band Grupo Serenata in the late ‘90s to country and cowboy bands in the mid 2000s.
“I bought my first guitar as a 20th
birthday present. I taught myself to play with the help of my college
roommate and have playing ever since,” he says. Influences include
Jimmy Buffet, Willie Nelson, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn,The
Ventures, Danny Gatton, and Louis Armstrong. When he’s not ripping out
tunes you can find him hiking and backpacking,
following local and national politics or watching the Seahawks.
Darin
“Bison” Baisch: Bass
Before joining 3rd Degree Burn, he played with the Pleasant Heads.
He also enjoyed hosting Jam Band nights with the Billy Farmer Green Jam Band at O’Malley’s, Cloud 9 and various other venues.
“It’s fun doing the Jam Band thing because it’s interesting not knowing what’s going to happen,” he says. Darin has a wide range of musical influences, but credits two men he met at age 14, Ron Smith and Jim “J.D.” Boggs of The Great Pretenders – as his close-to-home inspiration.
Glenn
Farrell: Drums
Glenn discovered his passion for playing the drums at age 15 when his father left a set unattended.
Father Larry Farrell drummed in the first local band formed by The Great Jerry Miller of Moby Grape fame (No. 68 on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest 100 guitarists of all time) and many other Tacoma-area bands.
“I’d put on Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream, and Steppenwolf and try to play along with the album,” Glenn says. Eventually it worked – and it’s no surprise that those bands are among Glenn’s influences.He also lists Van Halen, The Who, Rush, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
The list of bands Glenn has played in spans 20 years and is too long to list here. A few of them include Knucklehead, Smoke Like Daddy (original rock), Violation (aka Bitchin Mamma, Almost Human, Drunken Debauchery, the Riptones….you get the idea).
When he’s not thumping out tunes, Glenn can be
found restoring – or modifying — old vehicles,
except when it’s time to host the annual Gemini party.
